And the winner of the Geelong WIN Competition is….

After receiving 3123 engagements, 1113 shares and follows, which resulted in 382 valid individual entries into our Geelong WIN Competition, and going through all entries, we are happy to announce that the winner is Euan McCaughey from Sydney!

Congratulations Euan on winning a unit in the beautiful Team Geelong Thoroughbred Not A Single Doubt X Countess Dehere trained by Troy Corstens and a miRunners Merchandise Pack, valued at a total of $813.

To be in the running to win, entrants had to subscribe to our weekly newsletter, follow us on all social accounts, share the competition more broadly across social,  and tell us why they want to be an owner of a premium thoroughbred in 25 words or less using the Gleam competition entry form. Euan completed the most shares and entries, is someone who is a member of the Australian Turf Club, and always wished one day that he could own a racehorse.

We took a moment out of Euan’s time to find out more about our most recent owner in our Team Geelong Thoroughbred:

Can you provide a quick description of yourself, what you do and why you’re passionate about horse racing?

I am a Biomedical Engineer, working at Neuroscience Research Australia, Sydney. My research focuses on the use of electrical stimulation to improve the function of those living with an illness or disability.

I am also a member of the ATC, and try to attend as many race meets as I can. I love the social side of a day at the races, but the biggest thrill is watching the thoroughbreds as they charge towards the finishing line (hopefully with the horse I backed taking the win).

How did you first come across / hear about miRunners?

I first heard of mirunners through the Young Professionals in Racing (YPR), a group of young racing enthusiasts based in Sydney. I thought it was a great initiative for getting as many people as possible involved in racehorse ownership, especially those who had been put off by the usually bigger shares offered by syndicates.

What does it mean to you to win this prize of Premium Thoroughbred Ownership?

To have the opportunity to own a horse out of a premium sire like Not A Single Doubt from a premium yearling sale is really exciting, and not something I would normally be able to become involved in.

What do you like about the Team Geelong Thoroughbred?

The filly looks a strong type, and hopefully shares some of the speed of her sire. Troy Corstens is a trainer I follow, and if he can get our filly running half as good as Runson I will be delighted!

Congratulations again Euan and welcome to the Team Geelong and the miRunners community!
